The mirror make perfect sense for a reversing system as this is a natural place to look.  If in a large 4wd with a lot of ambient light then this may work against you as viewing an LCD behind glass is not easy.   The GPS mirror does not suffer from this as there is no glass in front of the touch panel.   LCDs of course can be left on whilst driving and all units have 2 video inputs.
